Administration and trust

GAMA has one protocol owner and a few operator roles. This page lists what each can do, and what nobody can do.

Roles

Role What it does
Protocol owner Changes settings for future launches, approves pair tokens and venues, and can pause new launches
Buyback operator Runs GAMA buybacks and creator buybacks
Payout operator Runs automatic holder payouts
Treasury Receives 70% of protocol revenue

On the testnet, the protocol owner is a single key. Ownership can be handed over in one step, and it can never be given up entirely. The contracts cannot be upgraded or deleted.

What the protocol owner can do

  • Pause and resume new launches. Existing launches, trading and claims keep working.
  • Change fees and other settings for launches created in the future.
  • Approve, change or disable pair tokens for future launches.
  • Change how protocol revenue is split. This applies to future revenue from all launches.
  • Replace a launch's creator recipient, after a 3-day notice period.
  • Switch off a launch's creator buyback-and-vest.
  • Exclude an address from future holder rewards.
  • Change holder payout settings, which apply to all launches.
  • Pause buybacks and choose buyback routes and operators.
  • Approve new trading venues, and migrate a launch's locked liquidity to one.
  • Switch on a protocol fee of up to 0.1% on a pool.

What nobody can do

No role, including the protocol owner, can:

  • Change a launch's token, supply, details, curve, fee rates or mode after it is created.
  • Create new tokens of a launch, freeze transfers or block holders.
  • Withdraw a curve's funds or a launch's locked liquidity.
  • Take or redirect balances in the fee escrow, including holder rewards and creator income already earned.
  • Stop trading on a curve or on an open pool.

Trust

Some owner powers matter if the owner key were misused or stolen:

  • Approving venues decides where locked liquidity could be migrated to.
  • The protocol split can send future protocol revenue to any address.
  • Payout settings, including the payout charge, have no fixed upper limit.
  • A forced creator replacement redirects future creator income after the notice period.

Buyback purchases rely on the operator's price checks. The contracts limit how far each purchase can move the price, but do not check prices themselves.

Before mainnet

Before any mainnet release, control of the protocol moves from a single key to a multi-signature wallet with a time delay on changes. The signers and the delay have not been decided.

GAMA is deployed on GIWA Sepolia testnet only. Nothing in this documentation is an offer or financial advice.
