Anti-snipe tax
The anti-snipe tax is an extra fee on curve buys in the first few blocks after a token is launched. It makes it expensive for bots to buy the instant a token appears. It is off by default, and it is off on the GIWA Sepolia testnet today.
When it applies
GAMA's admin decides whether new launches have the tax, and for how many blocks: 3 by default, at most 60. Each launch keeps the setting it was created with. Nobody can switch it on, off or change its length for an existing launch.
GIWA makes a block about every second, so a three-block window lasts about three seconds.
The tax applies only to buys on the bonding curve. Sells and trades in the pool never pay it.
When the tax is on for new launches, the Token preview on the Create a token page shows an Anti-snipe tax row: "On: the first buys after launch pay a higher fee that quickly falls to normal."
How much it costs
In the block the token is created in, a buy pays 99% in fees in total. The extra part then falls with the square of the blocks left in the window, so it drops fast, and from the end of the window buyers pay only the normal fees.
With a three-block window:
| Blocks after the launch block | Standard launch, 1% trading fee, no creator tax | Reward launch, 1% trading fee and 1% holder fee |
|---|---|---|
| 0 (the launch block) | 99% | 99% |
| 1 | 44.55% | 45.11% |
| 2 | 11.88% | 12.77% |
| 3 and later | 1% | 2% |
For example, a buy of 0.1 test ETH one block after a standard launch pays 0.04455 ETH in fees, and only 0.05545 ETH buys tokens. The same buy three blocks later pays 0.001 ETH.
A creator tax or a higher holder fee counts as part of the normal fee, so the first block still totals exactly 99%.
Where the extra goes
- Standard launch: the extra is split like the trading fee, 70% to the creator and 30% to GAMA.
- Reward launch: the extra goes to GAMA, like the trading fee. Holders do not receive it.
Who is exempt
These buyers pay only the normal fees during the window:
- the wallet that created the launch;
- the payout wallet set at launch;
- up to 32 more addresses named when the launch is created. The Create a token form has no field for them, so launches made in the app name none.
The list is fixed at launch. Redirecting the fee wallet later does not change it.
These exemptions cover only the extra fee. They give no exemption from the buy limits. Addresses that GAMA's admin has exempted from all fees pay no fee at all, including this one; see Fees and creator tax.
TIP
The creator's initial buy happens inside the launch transaction, in the launch block, and the creator is exempt. It always pays only the normal fees.
